The term Active Assisted Living (AAL) encompasses methods, concepts, (electronic) systems, products, and services that support and facilitate the daily lives of older people and people with disabilities in a situation-dependent and unobtrusive manner. Architects, planners, and craftsmen face the challenge of navigating the complex variety of providers. This book presents the standards and technologies in a clear manner and demonstrates the opportunities for all involved parties. Using practical examples, it addresses the different requirements, products, technologies, and system components in house/apartment construction, assisted living/home care, the adaptation of rental apartments, and temporary physical limitations at home.
